What Happens When Coach Meets Disney?

Two American icons coming together – BAM.
|

Disney crazies, get a load of this – Coach and Disney have teamed up to create a collection of Mickey Mouse-themed accessories and ready-to-wear. Cue the squeals!

Speaking for the Disney-obsessed – Coach’s creative director Stuart Vevers is also a huge fan, so I’m not too embarrassed to own up to my obsession – I’ll admit that the collection is pretty clever. It’s more than just the coming together of two all-American icons. You see, when my people head to Disneyland, we like to let our freak flags fly. Mouse-eared hats, lanyards covered in Disney pins and, the pièce de résistance, the Disney-themed bag to hold the necessities and then some (i.e. souvenirs that cost an arm and a leg, sheesh). With its top handle mouse-eared bags, and tote bags, backpacks and cross-bodies embossed with little Mickeys, the collection is exactly right. (Apparently, Vevers loves to vacay at the many Disneylands, which may explain why the collection is so park-appropriate.)

A Mickey Mouse-themed collection doesn’t have to be childish, though. Binx Walton and her compadres look hella cool toting the minimalist bags in t-shirts, itty-bitty black leather skirts and bandanas. That’s my your next Disney Park look settled, right there.
