Street Style Report: The Best Looks From Copenhagen Fashion Week
A riot of clashing prints, vibrant hues and exaggerated silhouettes, the Scandinavian street style set gave a warm welcome to the return of (socially-distanced) physical runway presentations.| August 13, 2020
You can always look to the Scandi street style circuit to dish out copious amounts of cheer by way of clashing prints, vibrant pops of colour, and exaggerated silhouettes. It’s never a dull moment outside the shows at Copenhagen fashion week. Just as it has in the past, the Danish capital’s fashion flock brought along its signature dose of optimism to Copenhagen’s latest Spring/Summer 2021 fashion week outing.
This time, the smiles on showgoers’ faces ran deeper than a superficial affinity for happy hues and riotous prints. Being the first city to mark a return to (socially-distanced) physical runway presentations, the wardrobe choices here punctuated the relief in the air. Even the sweltering summer heat could not dampen the spirits of Copenhagen’s fashion week attendees.
A cardigan embroidered with a smiley face painted a literal display of exuberance. And elsewhere, the mood in the air was perpetuated by a clash of unlikely colour combinations – pink on teal; lavender on red; cerulean on brown – in true Scandi fashion. The street style looks were also packed with plenty of inspiration for summer dressing. A scarf repurposed as a top, an array of effortlessly cool (quite literally) sandal options, and the cutest candy-hued carryalls.
As the industry rides through a period of uncertainty, seeing a return to some semblance of normalcy presents hope for the industry at large. Till our time comes, we’ll be putting together hypothetical fashion week looks in our minds.
