Cowboy Boots Are On Their Way Back, But Are You Yay or Nay?
From pastel to plaid and everything in-between, we're more than ready to let these badass kicks giddy up right into our shoe collection.| March 28, 2018
Western wear seems to be taking the reigns this fall, where it can be spotted at shows like Louis Vuitton and Fendi. Isabel Marant and Chloe have always championed the cowboy boot in their collection, but it seems like its recent resurgence can be traced back to Simons’ debut collection for Calvin Klein last September, where he made the boot all the more badass by giving it a square toe and topping it with a metal tip. Certainly don’t want to end up on the kicking end of this one.
This most recent fashion month gave more iterations of the boots and trust me, these aren’t your average line dancing boots. Think high noon rather than hoedown. It started with Fendi, where cowboy boots were taken to a modernised and minimalistic world using pastel, plaid and print. Dolce & Gabanna decked theirs in glitter and jewels, while Pierre Hardy and Re/Done took the complete opposite aesthetic with a sleeker rendition that played more on shape. Isabel Marant kept the metal shoe caps, along with the tassels, while Coach found their metal in studs. Then came Emporio Armani, where emphasis was put on the stitching, separating two colours with a white strip or using black as a statement on silver sequins.
At this point, you can already guess where we stand with the cowboy boot. We love seeing pieces that we never would’ve thought to wear – like the fanny pack or the chunky shoe – transformed into something extraordinary when the styling cards are right. While we wait for the new season offerings to hit the stores, these that we’ve rounded up below will do more than satiate our – and perhaps your – lust. I mean, just look at those Maison Margiela boots. Eurgh.
