I Can’t Take Dior’s Phenomenal Cruise Collection Out Of My Mind
So I took it from runway to real life. We experimented with our favourites from Dior's Cruise 2018 collection, going from the golden fields of Calabasas to the everyday.| February 13, 2018
Ever seen a collection that speaks to your soul? Where your wish list gets longer and longer every time a look comes down the runway? Back in May, I had the opportunity to see Dior’s Cruise 2018 collection in the flesh among the beautiful golden fields, sands and canyons of Calabasas in California. The entire experience gave me major goosebumps. It was one of those things where everything came together: the setting, the ambience and the looks. Oh, the looks. It has been months since the collection was unveiled and I still cannot get enough.
With growing a human being and prepping for his arrival well in progress – counting down the days! – I don’t get as many opportunities to dress up and wardrobe experiment as much as I used to. There’s still a little bit of that, but I wanted to go all out. The setting, the ambience, the looks – all of that. So one day, the team and I decided to just do it. Have a make-believe adventure. The kind where Dior’s cruise collection would fit right in.
Which brings us to what you see above. The sky was completely on our side, don’t you think?
For me, dressing up still means keeping things real, as in real life. Day to day. I love a collection that is phenomenal top-to-toe, yet still incredibly relevant when you take it into your everyday wardrobe. The bags are completely versatile, even more if you switch straps around. The woven tapestry dress is easily dressed down with a bandana and simple black boots and sneakers. The lightweight trench coat doubles as both outerwear and dress, something you can easily throw over a t-shirt. Talk about maternity friendly, too. The hat? Formal, casual, beachside, middle of the city. Possibilities: endless.
