FIRST LOOK: Exhibit’s Resort 2016 Collection Is Finally Here
Before the collection drops at EXHIBITSTORE.CO tonight, see the campaign – shot by yours truly – and read about the inspiration behind it.| August 10, 2016
After months of meetings, revisions and plenty of hard-work, I’m so pleased and excited to announce that Exhibit‘s Resort 2016 collection and campaign are finally here! What do you think?
Exhibit’s last collection focused on textures like tulle, pom-poms and sturdy nets on a strictly black-and-white palette. For resort, I really wanted something that would make people feel comfortable just by looking at it. Sort of like that feeling you get when you’re strolling among flora and fauna on a cool, cloudy day.
The inspiration, as you can probably already tell, were leaves and earthy and cool tones. I was inspired not just by the different shapes and the intense green of leaves, but also the cool earth beneath it. Comfort was also at the top of our minds when my team and I were working on the collection, hence the loose, easy-breezy fit of the pieces. We wanted elevated pieces that we ourselves would be at ease in while living in the tropics. (Plus, the grommets provide some extra ventilation too, don’t you think?) The other priority was versatility i.e. pieces that not only fit easily into every wardrobe, but can also be easily dressed up and down.
This collection is also quite special to me because the campaign you see above was shot by yours truly. Since we started creating our own collections for Exhibit, we’ve been asking external photographers to shoot the campaigns. This time, I thought – why don’t I take up the challenge and do it myself? This collection also marks the third time Exhibit is partnering with Charles & Keith, the people behind the minimal and super easy-to-style shoes you see in the campaign.
My team and I worked hard on this collection and we hope that you’ll like it as much as we do. The first phase of the collection drops tonight at exhibitstore.co, 7 p.m. sharp (GMT +8). See you there?
(Psst…we finally got Facebook. Like us here, maybe?)
