Get Ready, Because You Will Be Wearing A Lot Of Red
We're seeing red, but only in the best kind of way. Go beyond that red lip and start working the colour into your wardrobe, stat.
| May 2, 2017Having a colour as a trend of the season can be quite tricky, because it is one of those things that have been and will always be on the runway, whether in minuscule or epic proportions. Plainly put, if you want a single colour to be considered a trend, you better make that serving a large one. We’re not just talking smatterings of red here and there, we’re talking top-to-toe red here, there and errwhere. Spring is currently all about pink, but for the coming fall, all that saccharine will deepen into red, red, red. No holds barred.
Super sexy high-cut red boots were spotted at Fendi, Isabel Marant and Victoria Beckham, but it is Rudolf Paglialunga’s parting collection for Jil Sander that proved the colour could stand just as well on its own and you only need a clean-cut silhouette to back it up. Upcoming labels Monse and Self-Portrait give plenty of options for the red carpet – relax, it is absolutely fine to wear red on a red carpet – and the after-party. But really though, no one topped Givenchy in the red department. As a farewell to former creative director Riccardo Tisci, the in-house team picked a bunch of looks from his 12-year reign at the house and covered them entirely in red. Top to toe. It’s glorious.
