The Anatomy of The Fall Trophy Dress
New season, new wardrobe. Because we can't have all the dresses, we've rounded them up into three essential silhouettes that you'll be wearing all fall long.| October 24, 2017
As temperatures begin to dip – well, officially around the world; it is sweltering in Singapore – we retreat back to our cold-weather routine of layering on the thermals, excessive lip balm and face masks and searching the new arrivals for our next fall dress to wear until it gets either too hot or too cold to do so.
If you’ve caught yourself staring at the throngs of dresses, wanting every fall-ready dress there is, but knowing that you can’t because your wallet is not a bottomless pit, keep calm – we’ve rounded up the essential fall trophy dress into three silhouettes: The Knit, The Elaborated Sleeve and The Statement. Have one of each and you’re ready for pumpkin season.
Fabric choice makes a world of a difference and nothing feels more comfortable than a knitted turtleneck when it’s cold out. You know what’s better than a turtleneck sweater? A turtleneck dress. Comfortable as heck and it’s an entire look covered without breaking a sweat.
THE ELABORATED SLEEVE
Big sleeves aren’t specific to the fall season – we love them in the summer – but if you’re going to be layering the thermals, they’re your solution to not looking like the Michelin Man. Layering options aside, the elaborated sleeve dress is also the perfect dress to take from work to all parties you have lined up. Pop on a turtleneck and jeans under it, then pull them off when it’s time for the bubbly.
The last on our list is about the no-holds-barred dress: embellishments, colour, plenty of texture. These are the dresses to take to the party. Second, third and maybe even fourth glances are definitely in the bag.
