1. The show location was Rome's iconic Trevi Fountain and the runway was a transparent floor suspended over the waters. Models walking on water! (Image: Fendi)

2. The most princess-y coat of the night in our opinion. Anna and Elsa wished they had this much swag. (Image: Fendi)

3. It may have been "haute fourrure", but many of the looks featured delicate, spider-web knits. It's dainty, but also surprisingly edgy at the same time. (Image: Fendi)

4. There had to be fur coats, of course, but there was nothing monotonous about them. Many of the fur coats were made of different textures and colours to create fantastical sceneries. Very gorg. (Image: Fendi)

5. The dresses too, told stories with fur serving as an embellishment rather than the leading role. (Image: Fendi)

6. Talk about technique. We can't imagine the amount of work and man hours that went into creating this coat-dress. (Image: Fendi)

7. Lagerfeld-favourite Kendall Jenner walked the runway twice. She makes a pretty convincing princess, don't you think? (Image: Fendi)

8. The makeup of the night comprised a slick cat-eye, glittery lids and petal pink lips and thick, dark brows. That's our holiday season look settled right there. (Image: Fendi)

9. Fendi's bag-of-the-moment was a half-moon shaped lizard pouchette wound around the wrist. (Image: Fendi)

10 Must-See Moments From Fendi’s Haute Fourrure in Rome
Models! Walking on water!
| July 11, 2016Karl Lagerfeld should seriously consider a career in party-planning after his rumoured retirement. I mean, that man can really throw a celebration. Remember what we said about Chanel basically owning the runway show? Well, good ol’ Lagerfeld has officially brought the runway spectacle over to Fendi. The storied Italian house recently celebrated its 90th anniversary in Rome, and because this is Fendi, Lagerfeld and the big 9-0 combined, it was done in a way that left the crowd snap-happy. Of course.
Let’s see – there were private Fendi planes, the massive Trevi Fountain, models almost walking on water and the Hadid-Jenner trio. And then we have the couture, or in Fendi’s case, fourrure. Oh my god, it was beautiful. Coupled with the crystal waters of the Trevi, Fendi’s aptly named “Legends and Fairy Tales” haute fourrure collection was like a fantasy story unraveling on stage, one dress and princess coat at a time. (Lagerfeld’s source material was Norwegian fairy tale East of the Sun and West of the Moon, hence the princess-y references.)
To make your Monday a little less drab and your eyes a little less weary, we’ve rounded up some of our favourite moments from the anniversary show in the gallery above. Please, pleeeeease take a moment to appreciate the shoes. They’re part-medieval, part-sock boot, part-Marie Antoinette and part-athleisure. If you don’t like them, you must be out of your mind. Seriously.
