Fendi’s Latest Collection Makes Us Crave A Beach Vacation
From cool blues and orange reds to tassels and fringe. They also made the cutest micro bucket bag we've ever seen. Come on, you know you want to.| September 25, 2017
Trust Karl Lagerfeld and Silvia Venturini Fendi to conjure another season of pure magic. For Fendi’s Spring/Summer ’18 instalment, we seem to be transported to the seaside. Perhaps this collection was a subtle hint to us that it is high time to visit the beautiful beaches Italy has to offer. Lake Como! Positano! Liguria! Puglia!
A plethora of diaphanous silhouettes were embraced and every outfit that came through the runway screamed easy and breezy, even the outerwear. There was a harmonious combination of prints and textures at play, from triangular stripes and checkerboard patterns to organza, woven raffia and beaded fringe. Even the stripes recall vintage umbrellas.
Silhouettes were playful and feminine. We’re feeling the beach, but these are looks for the city girl. Dresses were nipped at the waist with shoulder and waist cut-outs, and it was truly a pleasant twist when the same cut-outs were incorporated into the leather and fur coats. The shoes, styled with socks and knee-high sheer socks, may also be Fendi’s most eclectic and preppy yet. Fendi’s been killing it at the shoe game for a while now – still not over those sock boots from two seasons ago – and these new sling-back pumps continue that winning streak.
Building on last season’s reintroduction of the “F is For Fendi” logo, Fendi classic logo is more visible now than ever before, appearing as a delectable print on see-through socks, coats, bomber jackets, shoulder bags and the cutest micro bucket bag our eyes have ever seen. The Strap You also now comes with its own mini pouch attached to it for the girl who just needs a little bit more space for her odds and ends. So, so cute.
Honestly, we can’t wait for summer to come around. You will find us prancing around in these almost-transparent fabrics that are perfect for layering and putting together a flat lay with the très chic woven bags and cocktails. Browse through the gallery for a close-up view of the collection.
