Found: The Craziest Denim Jacket Of Them All

Now, this we need to see up close. How do we even begin to talk about this?
|

Amazing things happen when wardrobe classics that we tend to take for granted are reinvented into something completely brand new. We see them in a different light, style them in ways we’ve never really thought about before. Every designer has done or at least tries to do this. Hoodies, trench coats, the ’80s shoulder pad, hybrid clothing. Recently at Men’s Fashion Week, Demna Gvasalia & Co. at Vetements gave birth to the craziest denim jacket we’ve ever seen.

You’d think they were done after reinventing the now legendary off-shoulder denim jacket that was spotted all over the street style scene at the Spring 2017 fashion week season. But no, not even close. Deconstructing just ONE jacket? What is this, amateur hour?

This time, Demna Gvasalia & Co. took apart two denim jackets – maybe even more – and fused them together to give rise to the Frankenstein of denim jackets. Two sets of collars, two button plackets. One side of the second denim jacket sticks out like a fin. One sleeve looks inside-out. It is almost like the second jacket was flipped and sewn on top of the first. We can’t tell without having a closer look.

The jacket is a mess. A very good, imperfect, thousands-will-pay-thousands-for mess. Jacket of the season come Fall 2017? Oh, definitely. Anytime you want to sew two jackets together, give us a call. In the meantime, if you’re looking for a more everyday statement denim jacket, consider these.
