Giddy On Up: Cowboy Boots Are Taking Over
Part everyday, part statement, 100% cool. Rodeo or no rodeo, your shoe closet has plenty to gain from these bad boys.| January 16, 2017
What kind of shoe person are you? The sort who wears the few versatile (read: black) pairs, or the sort who has her hand in every basket shoe box? There’s nothing wrong with either – you do you and what your bank account permits. If you’re somewhere in the middle, then we might have something new for you. *pulls out an imaginary shoe box in the same was Ollivander does with wand boxes in Harry Potter & The Philosopher’s Stone*
Cowboy boots have been slowly but surely gaining momentum on the runways and on the streets. Isabel Marant has been championing them for years now. Hedi Slimane left them at Saint Laurent before he left. Marc Jacobs, Miuccia Prada and Celine’s Phoebe Philo have all dabbled in it. The most recent to add to the trend is Demna Gvasalia and his crew at Vetements. Specifically, with these hand-painted, almost hoo ha-high boots.
Cowboy boots are halfway between everyday and statement. (We’re taking the aforementioned Vetements ones out of the picture for obvious reasons. These are much friendlier, though.) But then again, who is to say a statement-something can’t be an everyday piece? The block heel means they’re boots made for walking, but the cowboy aspect earns more glances than your regular go-to boot can.
Styling them is also très easy. Jeans and a leather jacket if you feel particularly in character, denim cut-offs if you feel even more so. Feminine slips and wrap dresses make things more interesting. From clean suede to buckles and studs, we’ve rounded up some of the most handsome-looking cowboy boots that you can shop right away above. Giddy up!
