Gucci’s Pre-Fall Collection Takes You To So Many Places
...and let's you play so many characters, too. I took my favourites out of the trunk and onto the streets of Milan. In partnership with Gucci.| July 31, 2018
There is no better place in the world that I like to photograph Gucci in than Italy. Not only has it to do with its Italian heritage, there is a vibrancy, a sense of the unexpected, a harmonious blend of so many different things that the two share. Milan, the Italian city that feels almost like a second home, is the epicentre of them all.
With one feet in nostalgia and one feet in the future, Gucci’s Pre-Fall 2018 collection could fit well into the ancient, mysterious architecture of Rome and Florence, or even the beaches of Positano. But Milan, with its mix of old and new, provide the perfect backdrop to bring out the many characters and personas in this one collection.
A sleuth with a bit of a ’90s monogram obsession, caught in imaginary rain. A city girl at tea time, but she has an edge that she subtly conceals. A woman who lives for the golden sun, dreaming of days in souks.
There is plenty for the everyday, too. Simple bags of smooth leather and clean lines. Blouses that go from dressed up to dressed down, masculine to feminine, nostalgic to now in a minute. Insane monogram skirts that work with everything. So many different things that work seamlessly together.
Here, I picked four of my favourite looks from the collection, along with some accessories, onto some of the prettiest sights that Milan has to offer. Believe me when I say that I cannot get enough of the blue and white floral kaftan. See the looks above.
