10 Things To Wear When The Weather’s Like “NOPE”

And when parading around in your swimsuit is not the most viable option. Whip out the sunscreen because these show a lot of skin, yet keep you looking classy AF.

Eurgh, that cursed summer sun! Love it when it’s acceptable to parade around in nothing but a swimsuit, hate it when it’s everything else. When you know you’re going to end up sticky by the end of your second hour outside, the motivation to wear anything beyond the circle of cotton t-shirts and shorts is extremely low. Why bother with looking all fancy-schmancy when your bigger goal should be staying comfortable and getting out of summer alive with your makeup still intact by the end of the day? BECAUSE YOU CAN.

Bikinis aren’t the most viable of options for everyday wear, a girl has to make do. Enter cropped tops that though permit full view of the belly, look surprisingly chic paired with palazzo pants and under-the-knee skirts. There are always sundresses, too, with their stripes, halter necks and wide shoulders that show plenty of décolletage, though its more for heat relief than trying to look flirtatious. If all else fails, count on the silk-satin slip dress. It’s basically a piece of cloth with two strings attached, yet it looks super fly with a pair of summer mules.

As you probably will be getting an entire season’s worth of swimwear, you might as well get those that double as going-out wear for the sake of mileage. (Really, any excuse to wear swimwear as going-out wear, we’ll take it.) Ditch the triangle bikinis and go for ruffles, off-the-shoulder or knitted one-shoulder ones that go easily with everything from lightweight wrap skirts to those steadfast denim cutoffs.
