Logomania is back and its better than ever. Whether its on your t-shirt, socks or what have you, wearing a brand name is so much more than just simply wearing a brand name. It is not just for the sake of it anymore, we think. With the new logomania, the brand name itself becomes the design. A statement in its boldness and simplicity.
We’ve shown you how we styled Gucci’s faux vintage t-shirts. To kick off the new year, we decided to play around with not one, but two brand names in one look: a Balenciaga “dad cap” and a vintage Chanel backpack that I picked up whilst vintage hunting in Tokyo.
For me, the trick, as always, is to go simple. Demna Gvasalia’s Resort 2017 collection – which is where the logo cap belongs to – is intended to look as resort as one would expect a Balenciaga collection to be. I decided to float along with the whole “chilling by the poolside” idea by pairing the cap with a striped trench coat, lazy day slip-ons and the Chanel backpack, the sort that you can basically throw everything in and still have space for more. My trench coat looks a little like those beach towels and umbrellas, doesn’t it?
