Follow Me To The Maldives: A Week With Jimmy Choo

When a work trip ends up becoming a beach vacation. From snorkelling to picnics on private sandbanks, here's what we were *really* up to in the Maldives.
|

Summer vacation is very nearly here and thanks to Jimmy Choo, we had a bit of a head start. Last weekend, we flew and then flew some more to the Maldives for a very special digital project with Jimmy Choo. It was technically a work trip, but when you’ve got a crystal-clear turquoise ocean at your doorstep, the beach just a five-minute swim away and good friends next door, it really is more of a retreat in disguise. I love travelling to the big cities for work, but stopping by a beach every once in a while is hardly a bad idea at all.

When all the shoots were done – including one that we got up at 4 a.m. for, though we managed to catch the Maldivian sunrise because of it – we found ourselves on sunset cruises, feasting on barbecue dinners by the beach, snorkelling with turtles, spotting stingrays and sharks under a blanket of stars and picnicking on a private sandbank as the waters got hilariously closer and closer.

It was a short few days with Jimmy Choo, but I had so much fun and I cannot wait for you guys to see the digital project we shot with Aussie photographer and Vogue Australia Contributing Style Editor Candice Lake. But until then, relive our favourite moments from paradise with the travel diary above. Pretty sure we left part of our brains in the Maldives. *cue the island music*
