The Christmas Gift To Buy Once and Wear Forever
If you asked me, that gift would be a mini trunk box bag. In collaboration with MATCHESFASHION.com.| December 12, 2017
Let me tell you about box bags. Not just any box bag, but those shaped like miniature trunks, locks, luggage tags and all. When it comes to the bags I collect, I love an old-school, vintage feel and in my books, no bag captures that essential “vintage-ness” quite like a trunk box bag. It is a bag shape that reminds you of the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s – but it’s also ultra-modern. It is clean and classic, glamorous yet minimal, but it is also easy to style, making it one of those day-to-night pieces that you know you’ll keep forever.
So, it should then come as no surprise that I have mini box bags lurking around the house. The latest to join the boxy crew this Christmas is the classic Grace Box Bag from Mark Cross. If there’s anyone who knows how to make a classic, no-frills box bag, it’s them. Vintage feel? Check. Functionality? Check. Versatility? I took it to brunch in a sweater and jeans one day, a statement jacket for an early dinner on another, then with a pantsuit for a night event the day after. Check.
I suppose the Christmas unwrapping did come a little early for me, but I’ll be using the box bag all festive season long and beyond, so I’m sure Santa won’t mind. Shop my looks below, then head on over here to see what MATCHESFASHION.com has in store for their massive gift guide.
