Inside Maticevski’s Fall/Winter 2017 Collection
We popped by the Aussie label's showroom at Paris Fashion Week and got all up in the grungy-feminine collection's grill.
| March 22, 2017If you still don’t know about Toni Maticevski, well, you are about to. Ever since watching our first Maticevski show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia last May and the subsequent email interview with Toni himself, we’ve been wanting to sit down with the designer for a little tete-a-tete over some preferably lactose-free and caffeine-free liquids and get a little touchy-feely with his incredible clothes. The stars aligned this season despite the usual insanity that is fashion week and we finally found the time to head down to the Maticevski showroom in Paris. Rainy day and pencil-thin heels be damned.
The brand can do glam, but it can also tread into that devil-may-care, intentionally unrefined, dirty-pretty territory if it wants to. There were pockets of denim mixed in with military khaki and floaty white silhouettes, for instance, that looked fresh juxtaposed onto Toni’s signature architectural yet feminine shapes. That inverted denim waistband on a floaty white skirt, and that sculpted khaki dress with the contrast high-neck? Gorgeous, but with a little something-something on the side. If you’ve never been the dress-wearing type, Toni Maticevski could very well be the one to convert you.
