Presenting The One-Minute Holiday Shoe Makeover

How to turn your everyday worn-to-death boots from holi-nay to holiday faster than you can say "I have nothing to wear".

We know we’ve been bugging you to get yourself some party shoes to properly boogie the night away this festive season. Yet, while we love that thrill of opening of box of new shoes as much as the next girl, we also love double-duty things. And tricking people into thinking that we made an effort to dress up when we really didn’t. If you can mask your current wardrobe to look like a party-slash-holiday-season-ready one, then you my friend deserve all the turkey, sweet potato pie, cranberry sauce and cheese plates that your heart desires.

One way to do it? Presenting the one-minute holiday shoe makeover, where all you need is a pair of heeled boots and a decent ribbon. With these two ingredients in hand, proceed to hook the ribbon under the arch of the shoe, then lace it up as if it was actually part of said shoe.

Viola – fake holiday lace-ups, courtesy of the genius street styler above. The best part? It is entirely customisable, FOC. Customisable thingamajigs are the new cool, remember? Velvet, satin, branded with a label, metallic – you pick your poison. Velvet would be super holiday appropriate though, just putting it out there. So, the next time you’re thinking of tossing a gift ribbon away, think about two things – the earth, and then your shoes.

If you want to see how you can spin what you have at home into party-appropriate wear, we’ve got a little something-something here. To see how you can turn your sequins into daytime wear without breaking a sweat, click here. Happy holidays!
