Rethinking The Denim-on-Denim Situation

Is it just jeans and jackets?
|

You all know just how much I love denim, so it’s no question how often I go denim-on-denim. Recently though, I’ve been thinking of ways beyond the Canadian Tuxedo i.e. the classic denim jacket over jeans. There are the different variations of the denim jacket, of course, like the military Gucci I wore in Paris (similar here), or this raw-edged one from Marques’Almeida that easily doubles as a top. Miuccia Prada showed just how many ways you can redo and deconstruct the denim jacket recently at Miu Miu. But what else, what else? How far can I take my thing with denim?

Enter the bucket hat.

I love a good bucket hat, and when I found one in denim while holidaying in Tokyo, I knew it was a start of a long and beautiful relationship. But if you’re not one for hats, how about denim shoes? Denim Choos?

It doesn’t have to be jeans, either, or even blue denim. Consider overalls over a denim shirt, or white denim on white denim. I feel like it’s almost impossible to have too much denim on your person. I said almost. Heavily-stressed almost. Top-to-toe denim may be taking the situation a little too far. Remember Britney and Justin circa 2001? NEVER FORGET.
