Show girl shoes, date night shoes, disco shoes and a drawstring pouch with a secret cigarette compartment – it's ALL in the bag.
| March 14, 2017We are on a roll with the shoes today, aren’t we? Moving on from the ultra-feminine kicks of last season, Roger Vivier rolls out a line-up that covers a span of personalities: the show girl, the bad girl, the sixties and seventies obsessed, the classy girl with a bit of a dark side.
Even the venue was different this time around – Rue Cambon instead of the usual Boulevard Saint-Germain, a bonus because our hotel is just down the street – signalling a shedding of former skin. A throng of shoes and bags sat along a saccharinely sweet pink maze, punctuated with the occasional dismembered cyborg arm. Is it just me or do we spot a Westworld reference? (Spent most of my Milan Fashion Week nights binge-watching Westworld, so you can’t blame me.) There’s a bit of that trippy contrast, as though saying “everything is not what is seems”.
As with every Roger Vivier collection, Fall/Winter 2017 is a fine mix of different textures and elements. You’ve got bejewelled feathery sandals, patent and striped go-go boots, ankle booties embellished with delicate leather flowers, the signature Pilgrim buckle on a very chic pair of sock boots. There was even a sequinned bag that revealed a secret cigarette compartment at its base. Classy with a kick.
