It’s A Flashback To Old Hollywood Glamour At Roger Vivier

Someone put our names down for these embossed logo pumps, tout de suite. Here are the sweetest kicks you need to see from Roger Vivier's #SS18.

When retail is your therapy, happiness can come in a variety of coloured boxes. This time in Paris, our coloured box of choice is red. Deep, romantic, sensual, femme fatale red. Roger Vivier’s presentation at Paris Fashion Week is hardly a dull affair with their space almost always resembling an art installation. Last season gave us surreal Westworld feels, this season was a shoe addict’s heaven. The entire thing was one big shoe box, made from even more of Roger Vivier’s signature red boxes.

The collection this season left us craving for the glamour of days gone by, of red lips, big hair, jazz, smoke and nightcaps. There were top handle bags in croc and glossy pastel, bejewelled buckled pumps, Roger Vivier’s signature Boule in red mesh and a giant bow, skinny striped pumps that brings to mind Hildy in His Girl Friday, black and gold cigarette cases and vintage-style micro luggage bags in mod red and brown. The latter two would be fit right into a scene in Mad Men.

While there were something for the girly girls and the eclectic in the form of floral embroidery and chunky embellished slides, the real star of the afternoon was every single shoe that bore Roger Vivier’s logo, whether embossed, embroidered or rhinestoned. Working a logo into a design is tricky, working a logo into a design while still ensuring that it is classy and timeless is even trickier, but creative Bruno Frisoni – who we had the pleasure of spending an afternoon with on our penultimate day in Paris – did it marvellously. The trick was to keep things simple in black or red, with the logo and the signature curve Choc heel as the focus. Somewhere out there, there is a pair of red mules embossed with Roger Vivier’s logo with our name on it.
