Sergio Rossi May Have Had The Sexiest Showcase In Milan
A dark library. Sixties lounge chairs. Models reading books. The shine of shoes bouncing off the walls. This is a presentation like no other.| September 28, 2018
Sergio Rossi knows sexy in all manner and forms. It knows sexy like a classic stiletto pump. It knows sexy like a fully covered boot that doesn’t show any skin. So, it then goes without saying that a presentation by Sergio Rossi would cover all these bases. That they did, and in the most unexpected of ways.
Set in Biblioteca Ambrosiana, a library in the heart of Milan, Sergio Rossi presented the next season’s line-up of shoes through a scene composed of towering bookshelves chockfull of books, futuristic display cases and models – dressed in nude turtlenecks and nude shorts – reading nonchalantly on sixties-style lounge chairs, all under a beautiful glowing arched ceiling. The spectacle continued into a second room filled with marble sculptures, the shoes placed gingerly next to them.
It was all so sensual and mysterious, without being overtly so.
The shoes were the same. Key elements ranged from leafy fringe, sometimes minimal, other times decked in bling, skinny straps, nude straps and raised circular crystal rhinestones. The silhouettes were a fine mix of everyday and up-to-the-nines, with some toeing the line in between. A sensible mule covered in embellished fringe. A loafer covered with just enough shine. A mid-shin boot covered in fringe, but kept white.
In the flurry of fashion week where there are shows after shows after shows and presentations often blur into one, it becomes a challenge to set yourself apart from the rest. A presentation like that with super sexy shoes to boot? Sergio Rossi has absolutely nothing to worry about.
