The First Batch of Party Shoes Have Landed

Fringe, satin, crystals, an overdose of glitter and actual disco balls – if it has shine, it's got game. Take these shoes to the party, and then some more.

Welcome to December! The most blindingly sparkly time of the year, where we put on shine of every kind in the name of good cheer – eyes and cheeks, body and definitely feet. There are going to be lights and you can be sure that we’ll be there to catch it from top to toe, bouncing off our shoes of satin, patent, crystals, sequins, cracked metallic leather and glitter. Oh yes, plenty of glitter.

Holiday party shoes are not difficult to find – if they’ve got shine, they’re in. But, the problem, if you can call it that at all, is what to do with them after. Do you go for the shiniest, most blindingly blinged out pair only to keep it to collect dust on the shelves until Christmas comes again?

Party shoes make for good decor, but the dust that get caught in-between crystals and specks of glitter don’t. These shoes are attractive alright, but if you’re going to feel any semblance of regret after that New Year or Christmas party, consider going for the “versatile” party shoe. The shine is still there, but look out for classic silhouettes, like Jimmy Choo’s Romy 100 or a pair of mules, or reduce the shine to a specific element, like buckles or the heel. You could also try a more trans-seasonal shine, like metallic, satin or patent leather.

Or you could be the biggest rebel on the dance floor by making a party shoe out of a sneaker, not unlike Roger Vivier’s Sneaky Viv sneakers. Shoes like these, we guarantee you’ll be wearing them post-party season. Take your pick from the first batch of party shoes below.
