Ditch The Pants, Let Your Legs Get Some Sun

Look, we love pants as much as the next girl (and guy). But with the sun out in full force, it's time to let those killer legs see the light of day.

Up until my early 20s, I absolutely hated the idea of wearing pants. Even before putting a pair on, I would imagine how warm I’d be and how the world would be twice the furnace it already was. I would imagine it so well until I could feel the heat over my legs. Yeah, I was (and probably am still) very dramatic. Now that I think about it, my abhorrence of long pants was so severe that I didn’t wear jeans once throughout my four years in university. I was a strictly skirt, shorts and dresses girl.

Then I started working at a magazine, which meant cold offices, meetings and events where sometimes, I really had to wear the pants. I also found two pairs of jeans that fitted me like a glove and an array of loose-fitting pants that were surprisingly cooling despite reaching all the way to the floor. I had maligned the long pant for years and with the misunderstanding out of the way, we became fast friends.

Our growing relationship rendered the skirt to the backseat. It just didn’t have the practicality of the long pant. I couldn’t sit spread-eagle in them, and I had to shear my legs. For a while, pants seemed like an easier go-to.

Lately though, thanks to the likes of Saint Laurent, Isabel Marant, Sacai and Prada, I’m allowing my legs to see the light of day, beach or no beach. They don’t have to be girly, too. Have you seen the metallic ones by Saint Laurent? Those look like they can cut glass. For days where thy leg is unshaven, there’s always the midi, or if you feel so bold, the maxi with a slit, like the one Yoyo wore while we were in Seoul. Sun’s out, let your legs get some air.
