Have You Found Your Perfect Black Blazer Yet?
If you have, spill the beans about it ASAP. If you haven't, we've got some super sharp ones that we promise you'll hold on to FOR LIFE.| April 25, 2017
Any street style pro worth her salt owns that one perfect black blazer. An enduring wardrobe essential – see exhibit A, B and C – the black blazer is universally agreed to be a a trans-season must-have, easily dressed up with a pair of tailored black pants and pointed pumps or a slip dress, or down with t-shirt and jeans or cut-offs. Going commando in the first option is, as proven by Bianca Jagger and Betty Catroux, just maximal sexegance (portmanteau of sexy and elegance, I’m making it a thing) with minimal effort.
Unfortunately, the search for the perfect blazer seems to be as mind-boggling as the one for the perfect white shirt. Do I go for structured or slouchy? Do I want the classic silhouette, double-breasted or something with a little more edge, say metallic buttons or a silk lapel? Perhaps you’d like a classic Saint Laurent Le Smoking tuxedo jacket, or maybe one of Balmain’s signature military-meets-nautical blazers with the hardware. DECISIONS, DECISIONS, DECISIONS. Tell us what your ideal black blazer looks like, or whether it’s even possible to have just one to begin with. If you haven’t found your perfect one, perhaps our edit below will help you out.
