Pretend You’re An Empress With These Luxe Going-Out Robes
Like Rihanna and her omelette of a robe at the Met Gala – but more low key.
| November 9, 2016What a moment fashion’s having right now. What a time to be alive! Not only are hoodies, sweatpants and stirrups the sudden MVPs of your closet, it is now a-okay to wear your silk pyjamas – robe and all, the Richie Rich version – out the door and into a restaurant. As long as you know how to style it right, that is.
Thanks to the ever-changing definition of what qualifies as going-out wear, a three-piece pyjama set is suddenly so full of opportunities. The pyjama top with a pair of jeans. The pyjama pants with a white shirt. The robe with a t-shirt and some flare trousers, or the robe and the pants with a camisole. (Which, by the way, was what Lily Aldridge wore with some Bulgari to our interview in New York.) The permutations are endless! Hell, Miuccia Prada even made some furry pearl slippers for Miu Miu and they are everything.
Silky pyjama-inspired tops and pants are not hard to come by. It is the robes that are tricky. Is it just us or do they seem to be in really short supply? I mean, I just want to have my mini Rihanna at the Met/Kardashian-Jenner at a weekday dinner moment. I want to be able to have something to throw on over some old jeans and a t-shirt and still look like I bothered. Why is everything so haaaaaard?
In case you’re having a hard time finding THE perfect going-out robe, we’ve scoured the Internets and rounded up the best we found. Whether you’re in the mood to splurge or save, we’ve got both ends of the spectrum covered. Take your pick and let it be your best friend in the lazy fall days ahead.
