Meet The Take-Everywhere Dress (A.K.A. The Next LBD)

It's a beach dress, cocktail dress, grocery run dress and street style dress all rolled into one. Like the LBD, but slightly better.

I’ve had this Dion Lee laser-cut dress for a while now, but strangely enough, the first time I saw fit to wear it was at a beach in the Maldives during our recent trip there. Not at a dinner in a restaurant or a cocktail party in the city, but at a beach with no shoes and feet covered in sand. That’s when I realised – it was a take-everywhere dress. Sort of like the LBD, but more updated.

The take-everywhere dress is, as the name suggests, a dress that you can take everywhere. Wear it with heels, sneakers or no shoes at all, with your hair up or down depending on the mood of your destination, to a garden, beach, party or grocery run. It is like clay, ready to be shaped according to what you want it to be.

The criteria for the take-everywhere dress is simple: a bit of structure mixed in with a some movement, then paired with a versatile colour and material that can be easily dressed up and down. If the dress can easily be matched it with jeans and sneakers one day, flat sandals the next day and a gold choker and minaudière next week, then you’ve found your very own take-everywhere dress. In case you need a little help, we’ve rounded up some which we think you’ll love below.
