I Understand that I Will Never Understand
However, I stand.| June 2, 2020
I’ve been taking the time to think, reflect, listen and learn in regards to what has happened in the United States over the last week and the days that have passed. I’ve been given a voice. To the African American community who are hurting and in pain, who are saying “enough is enough”, I hear you, I see you and I stand with you. I understand that I will never comprehend what the African American community goes through, but I commit to educating myself on what I can do and applying that as an individual, daughter, parent and business owner to make a difference. Such social injustices and racism in any shape or form cannot be allowed to continue anywhere.
If you have the means to do so, donate. There is an entire range of organisations you can lend your monetary support to from ones that are on the frontlines of anti-racist action to others that put it towards bailing out protestors who have been arrested. Sign the petitions. You can also stream this video project from which all funds earned will be directed to various associations on the frontline of the movement. Educate yourself. Have conversations with people who don’t understand the gravity of the situation. Racism is a reality that needs to be confronted globally, even in our own societies. Don’t step down from educating others and let’s all do better. To start, my team and I here at YOYOKULALA.com commit to bringing more visibility to black-owned businesses and minority-owned businesses in the industry in our content. If you have an amazing brand to share, let us know, we want to hear it.
Black lives matter. Let’s all do better.
