All the Holiday Destinations Awaiting You When You’re in the Clear to Travel

Going on a holiday may not be a sound decision right now but a girl can dream of all the places she can visit when the dust settles on Covid-19!

Travelling outside of the country is a rather precarious subject given the global battle with Covid-19. Your plans for the impending Summer, or perhaps, even the end of the year may be in a limbo. Do you already have a serious case of cabin fever setting in? There’s something about being on a self-imposed, circumstantial travel ban that makes you crave setting foot out of the country that much more. We can all admit, the nostalgia of past travels kicks into high gear when Facebook memories or Instagram archives from the past rears its head. Nostalgia, perhaps, tinged with an ever so slightest bit of frustration.

Not being able to jump on a plane for a vacation right now certainly does not mean a girl has to stop dreaming about all the places she can visit when we’re eventually in the clear. The silver-lining to all of this is having the downtime to plan months and months ahead for a trip – there is no simply no reason to rush. Also, a plus considering you’d have plenty of time to save all the moolah for your much-needed getaway.

To satiate your thirst for travel, we have put together a line-up of awe-inspiring locations and equally breath-taking boutique accommodations that will leave you gobsmacked. We say when the circumstance permits, treat yo-self gurl!

WHERE TO STAY: The Celino South Beach

WHAT TO DO: Located at the heart of Ocean Drive, The Celino South Beach luxury hotel offers breathtaking views of the ocean. Inside, guests can soak up the sun in a rooftop glass bottom pool while looking out into the seas, dine in either of the two restaurants or indulge in the establishment’s in-room spa service. For those looking to explore, the vicinity has plenty to offer – explore the Art Deco buildings of Ocean Drive and Collins Avenue on an afternoon walking tour or wind down with a culinary experience from one of the reputable restaurants in the South of Fifth neighbourhood.

WHERE TO STAY: Torre Del Marques

WHAT TO DO: If you’re looking for a hide away from the relentless hustle and bustle of the city, look no further than Torre Del Marques. Tucked away in the hills amongst the rural splendour of Spain, this eco-luxury dwelling is a picturesque spot to take respite in. Be one with nature as you partake in olive oil tasting, truffle hunting, horse-riding and stargazing with the mountainous landscape as your backdrop. Places like these, they feed the soul.

WHERE TO STAY: Kasa Hotel Riviera Maya

WHAT TO DO: The sun, the sea and the sand awaits travellers at Puerto Aventuras. This hidden gem along Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula epitomises a tropical getaway sans the crowded beaches. It is the gateway to endless stretches of pristine white beaches and crystal clear water. Beyond bathing in the sunlight and sipping on cocktails from the hotel’s bar, there is plenty to keep you occupied within the Kasa hotel itself. Paddle board around the premise’s network of lagoons; wander about the shops at the Puerto Aventuras Marinal; or even take yourself out for a session of golf. If you’re feeling adventurous, beyond the premise awaits the ancient Mayan ruins at Tulum, Muyil or Chichén Itzá, dolphins in the UNESCO-listed Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, kitesurfing and even diving with sea turtles in Akumal. If you’re an adventure junkie, meet your next holiday destination.

WHERE TO STAY: Les Sources de Cheverny

WHAT TO DO: We’ll never be royals, it don’t run in our blood but that does not mean we can’t buy yourselves experiences that come close. At the Les Sources de Cheverny, you could stay inside a quintessential 18th century French château – the stuff of Taylor Swift music videos. Here, you can indulge in an extensive list of wines produced from the local wineries, sink into relaxation mode with spa treatments of your choice or take a short drive out to the hillside city of Blois where you can take in the sights of remarkable architecture. Does that not sound like THE life?

WHERE TO STAY: Lost Horizon Resort & Spa

WHAT TO DO: This is one’s way to experiencing Nepal in ways that not many have. Retreat into the lush greenery of the surrounding landscape home to some of the highest Himalayan peaks. The sprawling 7,000 square feet spa and wellness centre invites guests to rest and restore the mind and body. For the adventurers at heart, the surrounding lake presents opportunities for water sports and fishing.
