Test Drive: Does This Celebrity-Approved Facial Mask Live up to the Hype?
We can confirm, it's not just baseless hype that surrounds 111 Skin's facial sheet masks.| March 16, 2021
If you’ve kept up with this space, you’d know we’re self-professed connoisseurs in the facial mask department. Yoyo has a vanity fridge full of sheet masks and sheet masks only and another drawer-full in the event of an apocalypse that might force a mass shutdown of all beauty stores across the globe. Oh, how we shudder at the thought.
Facial masks are our skincare cheat sheets (get it? sheets? ha!). Yoyo swears by them before big shoots, to rejuvenate after a long day, and way back when travelling was a thing, as a quick perk-me-up before long haul flights. Here at the Kulala Club, trying out new facial masks is our sport. And over the years, we’ve put together multiple lists, here, here, and here. It’s an ever-growing list, really.
Our latest find, however, deserves a dedicated post. Meet the newest addition to our face mask wall of fame – the Rose Gold Brightening Facial Treatment Mask from 111 Skin. As we would find out subsequently, we’re a little late to the party with our discovery. Reportedly, it’s the holy grail of Tinseltown’s leading ladies. Lady Gaga, Margot Robbie, Priyanka Chopra, and Rosie Huntington-Whitley all swear by it.
For the unacquainted, here’s the 101. 111 Skin is the brainchild of London-based cosmetic surgeon Dr. Yannis Alexandrides, who ended up creating his own lineup of skincare when all else failed his expectations. Formulated alongside scientists, the ingredients employed at 111 Skin have even proven to work even under extreme conditions in space. Yes, in space.
111 Skin’s Rose Gold Mask that we tried-and-tested is easily the most lauded in the brand’s lineup of masks. It’s a cut above the rest. We dove deep into the label to find out just what makes it so good and found amongst other ingredients like rose extract and silk amino acid, it boasts pure 24 karat gold – a brightening agent with anti-inflammatory properties. Which, does explain the hefty price tag of USD$32 per piece.
If it’s any consolation, you most definitely get what you pay for. The difference shows. The brightening effect was instantaneous. It left the skin moisturised with a noticeable glow. We noticed a difference even in the under-eye area. Our makeup glided on smoother than we ever remembered it to have. And the effects stay show on your skin for the next couple of days. It’s the stuff of skincare miracles.
Even if you aren’t one to mask routinely, trust us, this one’s a game-changer. And there’s an entire range of masks to pick from for your specific skin concerns. Our only regret is that we didn’t find out about 111 Skin sooner.
