The Trans-Season Wardrobe Pieces to Take You Through Rain or Shine
When it can go from sweltering heat to freezing cold all in a day's work, a certain level of strategy comes into play in putting together outfits to take you from morning to night.
| August 24, 2020‘Cause you’re hot then you’re cold, You’re yes then you’re no, You’re in then you’re out, You’re up then you’re down. These are the lyrics to Katy Perry’s 2008 hit “Hot N Cold”. Technically, Perry was crooning about a boy who could not make up his mind. But the catchy anthem is a pretty apt descriptor of the bipolar weather we’ve been experiencing here at the little red dot.
It’s hot then it’s cold. The sun could be shining bright in the sky one minute yet it’d come pouring down the next with no warning at all, whatsoever. And vice-versa. The weather could transition from a stormy morning to a blistering hot afternoon. Where it’s almost always hot and humid save for the last couple of months of the year when the weather dips ever so slightly, the two-for-one weather calls for extra consideration in the wardrobe department.
We’re coining it lukewarm dressing – just as applicable elsewhere in the world as the weather transitions from season to season. By rule of thumb, you want to reach for pieces like cardigans and hoodies that give you the option of buttoning it up or down, leaving it on or taking it off depending on the weather. Crop tops in warmer fabric like knit or sweaters with cut-outs prove just as versatile. For the bottom half of the outfit, now’s the time to pull out the leggings that might not have seen the light day since highschool.
To start you off, we’ve curated a lineup of strategic everyday pieces for the days when the weather gods can’t make up their minds.
