Warm-Weather Ready Moisturisers That Feel Like Nothing on the Skin

We narrow down your search for a lightweight moisturiser that wears well in the tropics.

If you were to think of every girl’s skincare journey as a tunnel, the light at the end of it would be healthy, glowy skin. While there are a barrage of factors that come into play with achieving the dewy complexion of your dreams, hydration ranks up high. Needless to say, you can’t spell “dewy” without “dew”.

Shiny skin, however, is tricky. It’s a fine line between looking like an oil slick and a radiant, glowing goddess. The latter is, obviously, what we’re striving for. Finding the ideal moisturiser for your skin is key. If you’re living in the tropics where it’s sunny all throughout the year, it is that much harder to find one that works for you. Most moisturisers you find off the shelves tend to be heavy-duty stuff that would work wonders if you lived elsewhere in the world.

For those who dwell near the equator, lightweight options are the way to go. The ideal moisturisers for your skin should neither leave an icky layer post application nor slide off your face throughout the day. An ace moisturiser by our books is one that does the job without leaving a sloppy (or rather sticky) trail. Here are the ones we have on our radar at the moment.

Pixi Retinol Jasmine Lotion

Just as its name suggest, the Pixi Retinol Jasmine Lotion‘s formula finds itself halfway between a gel and a cream. Upon application, the lotion fast absorbs into the skin, leaving it soft to the touch with a very slightly visible sheen. We also found the traces of a subtle floral scent it left behind on the skin to be a rather pleasant touch. Pixi definitely worked its magic on us.

Drunk Elephant F-Balm Electrolyte Waterfacial Hydrating Mask

Perhaps the most hydrating formula of the lot, the Drunk Elephant F-Balm Electrolyte Waterfacial Hydrating Mask is typically integrated into night time routines. However, if you have drier skin, the formula works just as well for the day. Deeply hydrating without clogging the pores, this hydrating mask certainly lived up to the reputation of the cult-favourite Drunk Elephant

Dr. Jart+ Vital Hydra Solution Biome Essence

When it comes to beauty, nothing can quite come close to the South Korean beauty industry. They are looked to as a point of reference by the rest of the world. Having said that, South Korean skincare brand Dr. Jart+ really needs no introduction. When you break open a new bottle, you are required to add an intensive blue shot into the mix before applying the essence onto your face. As with essences, the Vital Hydra Solution Biome Essence is a super absorbent formula that sinks into the skin pretty much immediately after application. Beyond merely moisturising, we found the essence to be rather soothing. We’d say it’s definitely suitable even for those with sensitive skin.

Dr. Roebucks Stoke Weightless Face Moisturiser

They weren’t lying when they named it a weightless face moisturiser. The formula settles right into the skin upon application leaving little else behind than the natural berry scent of its ingredients. Concocted with clean, pared down ingredients, the Dr. Roebucks Stoke Weightless Face Moisturiser gets an all clear for sensitive skin. It’s also rarely that we enjoy the scent of a skincare product as we did with moisturiser.
